Become A Fan.

Hello again reader.

Today's post is about Facebook groups and pages. If you have Facebook you will have probably seen all your friends and you yourself joining a few of these groups.

Some of the ideas are great, such as "and then god created Saturn, and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.” It's these sorts of groups that I love; something that is truly funny and actually very well thought out, something that would have required great intellect to think up. Another one like this is called "If your sex is on fire, you probably have Chlamydia". It's type of thing you look at think "that’s actually very clever", and it is probably why they get so many fans. But then you get to the downright stupid groups.

If you are a constant user of Facebook like myself, you may have noticed that certain waves or themes go in and out of fashion, just like with clothing. The most popular ones that had a massive push is the craze of "Can this inanimate object get more fans then this celebrity". I think (but not 100% sure of this) that "can this sausage roll get more fans that Cheryl Cole" was the first one that started this pandemic that then later plagued our Facebook with people adding and referring friends to do the same.

More recently, the popular group of pages are things like "my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, and they're like it's better than yours" but changing the lyrics to do with a group of people, for instance Asians or chavs.

Another popular page to create at the moment is "If Mr bean was in such and such, he would look like this...”. Now to be fair to these groups, some of the pictures are very well done, especially the jack sparrow bean. The problem I have with these groups are not actually the group themselves, but just that everyone jumps on the band-wagon and tries to outdo each other. I mean some people just publish the same group again in the hope nobody notices they're the same and this actually can cause many problems.

The serial Joiner. Once a friend of yours, until they got hooked on the sweet feeling that they get from joining a group. On my friends list, there is at least five people who join anywhere up to 30 groups or pages in a day. This reader is a serious addiction that I personally feel this should be classed as a mental condition, and that people should be able to go somewhere when they realise that becoming a fan has taken over their lives. The I suppose the only way of contacting these people is by advertising on Facebook, and they'd probably end up joining just for the hell of it.

Another problem I've found with groups and pages is the accessibility to publicly humiliate some one, all from the comfort of your own home. Groups such as "Look at this girl's failed attempt at Photoshop" or "I LOLed when I saw this guy's face". And sadly it's these types of groups who seem to get the most fans. Now, I know some may seem very funny, but you got to take a step back and see how you would like it if you found a page with a million fans and you are the ones they are ridiculing. So I'm just saying, think before you fan.

And that is the end of my rant about Facebook. Sorry if this post seemed a bit gloomy. I did try to make it as entertaining as I could without making it too much of a joke.

Anyway thanks for reading, all comments are greatly appreciated.

Have a Good Weekend.

Welcome.

Hello Reader.

You may have noticed that I have once again decided to write a Blog. Why, I hear you ask, do you keep restarting your blogs Andrew? Well that answer to that is simple.

The problem is that I actually want to be entertaining. I want people to want to read this, to come back every time they see I've added to it. The problem I have though (and this may sound very harsh on myself) but I don't actually have any hobbies that I feel will entertain the masses. Sure, I could talk about video games as I have in my previous Blog "the angry n00b" but that is a very select group of people I would be writing to, and I want everybody to feel they can read this.

"So what do I do now?" I asked myself. "Well", I thought, "I could always talk about something like TV or Celebrities, that speaks to the masses right?". And, although that is true, I don't really watch enough television to get any real Insight or interesting information, and when it comes to celebrities, I usually end up by just saying what they've been in, like "oh yeah the guy from The Hangover is in it" or "isn't he in Zoolander as well?" so I would end up typing something that I would get instantly, but everyone else would have no clue.

so then I thought "the news?". Now, the news is good if you are writing quite a formal blog which is packed with important information that needs to be read to stop the world from shutting down etc. but that type of news never really interested me. I actually once did video blogs where I discussed the news, but not the important stuff like the worlds' economic crisis at the moment, but more the "and finally" segments, news that is there to cheer you up at the end when you realise the state of the planet is a wreck. Things like "Puppy flushed down the toilet returns home after 5 years". Silly things like that. But I don't really have the time to sort through all the news to find the stories I like, and to be honest, if it has already been broadcaster across the country, me writing it in a blog isn't really going to inform many more people is it?

I had so many themes rushing around inside my head that it all became very confusing in the end. should I write about sport? "what have you ever done that's even remotely sporty andrew?". Ok then how about gadgets and and electronics? "if you're going for the geeky look go for it". Fine, but what about books and literature? "the only books you have ever read are Harry Potter and Manga. There's plenty to write about there.."

And then it hit me. "why don't I just write about whatever I feel like writing about?". At first the idea scared me, but the more I thought about, the more it grew on me. I could just write about whatever pops into my head. should it be something that happened to me during the week, or an idea for a business venture, or even just a song I have heard and thought i should share it with you. No theme, except that every post will be about what I want to write about. So any of these things I've listed, and so many more. And I'm not going to set myself a deadline either, like I usually do, say every Wednesday or so. Because that just pressures me into force-thinking something that I don't fully believe in writing about. And if only two of you are reading this, so what? as long as your getting something out of it, then that's two people i may have kept interested for a short while.

If you have read this far, I thank you. Clearly the first post is always going to be a bit bland, especially one that is explaining what I hope to achieve with this blog. Be sure to watch or track or whatever it is called on Blogger, but just make sure you follow me, I hope to write many interesting things soon.
